Hello, I’m Brad Spees the Vice President and Operating Group Manager of GCI Business, and the head of GCI’s Coronavirus Response Team.
In mid-February when the impact of COVID-19 was becoming apparent, GCI formed the coronavirus response team. Our charge was to understand, assess, and respond to the challenges of COVID-19.
As a provider of essential services in Alaska, GCI never shut down operations. With a lot of hard work from our employees, we adapted our operations to address the challenges presented by the pandemic. With that said, we will not rest. One thing we have learned is that the situation remains highly fluid so GCI will continue to hone our preparedness and response.
We continue to serve you, our customers. We are maintaining our network, and pursuing strategic projects such as the Anchorage Hometown 5G upgrade. And we will not compromise safety by letting down our guard too early.
We are also planning for GCI’s future in the wake of the pandemic. The reality is that the pre-pandemic normal is not where we are headed. We will need to adapt to the “new” normal that emerges and are actively planning for that future.
I am incredibly proud of the hard work of my 2,000 GCI colleagues and am grateful to all of you, our customers, for putting your faith in us.
While the path ahead continues to emerge please know we will continue to do our best for you as your Alaskan neighbors.
Thank you.
